ALLEN CO, Ind. (ADAMS) – Allen County Commissioners and Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry issued a joint proclamation designating April 14-20 as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week during a ceremony on Wednesday on the fourth floor of Citizens Square.
On hand will be officials and employees of the Consolidated Communications Partnership — the joint emergency dispatching unit for Fort Wayne and Allen County — along with representatives from law enforcement, fire protection services and emergency medical services.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International to honor the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the citizens of the United States.
“The importance of recognizing and celebrating the hard work of these dedicated professionals is immeasurable,” said Commissioner Richard Beck. “The issuance of this proclamation gives us a chance to honor the men and women of the CCP for the work that they do every day to protect the citizens of Fort Wayne and Allen County.”
