FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne will host the Mayoral Forum on Quality of Life, an initiative to elevate discussion about Fort Wayne’s arts, culture, and quality of life amenities with the city’s mayoral candidates.
“The leaders of cities across the country recognize that a vibrant quality of life is critical to their ability to attract and retain a talented workforce and business investment. Arts and cultural amenities are no longer niceties; cities are expected to have them to be competitive. Arts United hears feedback from our stakeholders who believe that Fort Wayne should no longer follow other cities but become an established leader in this area. Arts United has asked mayoral candidates to share their vision and views about the City of Fort Wayne’s role in accelerating arts, culture, history, and quality of life,” commented Arts United President Susan Mendenhall.
All mayoral candidates were invited to respond to six questions about their vision for Fort Wayne’s arts, culture, and quality of life, and their views on supporting the excellence of Fort Wayne’s flagship cultural institutions, growing our city’s creative workforce, and making arts experiences more accessible for children and their families. Arts United received responses from Mayor Tom Henry (D), Dr. John Crawford (R), Ms. Gina Burgess (D), and Mr. Tim Smith (R). The candidates’ verbatim responses to all six questions can be found at artsunited.org/mayoralforum.
As a nonpartisan, charitable nonprofit organization, Arts United says it does not endorse, support, or oppose any candidate.
Later this fall, Arts United will host a town hall-style live event with final mayoral candidates with questions from Fort Wayne residents. To submit, email firstname.lastname@example.org with name and question.
