INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – 2020 White House hopeful Pete Buttigieg says it’s hard to see President Trump’s actions as those of a man who believes in God.
The Democratic mayor of South Bend, Indiana told USA Today that while he’s reluctant to comment on someone else’s faith, he doesn’t understand how someone can worship their own self so much and be prepared to be humble before God.
Buttigieg, an Episcopalian, also spoke about Trump’s evangelical Christian base and how they seem to focus on things Christ said so little about. Buttigieg said his idea of scripture points him toward defending the poor, the immigrant, the stranger and those who are left behind.
