Adams Radio Group Announcing Retirement of Longtime Broadcast Executive O.J. Jackson

Adams Radio Group is announcing the retirement of accomplished and award-winning broadcast executive O.J. Jackson, Vice President and General Manager of Adams Radio Group of Northern Indiana.

Jackson’s retirement goes into effect on March 31st, 2018. Jennifer Finnerty-Figg, Director of Sales for Adams Radio of Northern Indiana, will become Vice President & General Manager of the Adams Northern Indiana cluster. President and CEO of Adams Radio Ron Stone says “OJ Jackson has enjoyed a fine career and will be missed by me and everyone at Adams Radio. He deserves an amazing retirement given his contributions to radio over the past 40 years. I have learned a great deal from OJ and it has been a pleasure to work with him. I, and all of Adams wish him all the best in his new adventures!” Ron added “Jennifer has been trained by OJ of 15 years for her new role and I have no doubt whatsoever that she will be amazing in it! I am very excited for her and look forward to working with Jen as our newest VP/GM”.

Jackson’s career started in the late ‘60s, including radio and television stations in Indiana and Michigan as on-air host, weatherman and producer. Jackson moved into sales and management in Northwest Indiana with Porter County Broadcasting, owned by the late Country Disc Jockey Hall of Fame member “Uncle” Len Ellis. He was responsible for the design and building of a station in Wabash, Indiana for the company, then went on to other executive positions in radio, television and advertising in Valparaiso and South Bend before returning to Northwest Indiana to become Vice President and Sales Manager with Ellis-owned Radio One Communications. In 2012, Jackson became General Manager of the company, and stations WLJE-FM, WAKE-AM, WZVN-FM and WXRD-FM, retaining the position when the properties were acquired by Adams Radio Group in 2014.

During his career in Northwest Indiana Jackson helped lead the way in creating a regional presence for WLJE-FM and its sister stations. He created the “Chicago to South Bend” moniker for WLJE, which is still used today. He also launched the Region News Team brand used by all stations owned by Adams Radio Group of Northern Indiana.

Bobby Bones announces multi-year deal to stay on the air in Fort Wayne through 2024!

 

Bobby Bones, nationally syndicated morning show host heard locally on US93.3, has announced a multi-year deal with US93.3 (WBTU) which will keep him on the air in Ft. Wayne through 2024.

JOHN LUDWIG JOINS ADAMS RADIO DELMARVA

Salisbury, MD: Adams Radio Group has hired radio veteran John Ludwig as a Senior Account Manager representing the Adams cluster of stations in Salisbury-Ocean City.   Ludwig comes to Adams from Entercom Portland where he has spent the past 13 years as a sales consultant for Entercom.

Born in Newport Beach, CA, and raised on the West Coast, Ludwig graduated from Washington State University in 2004 with a Bachelor Degree in Sociology and a Minor in Communications. Ludwig began his career with Entercom in 2005 via the highly successful Entercom Communications, ‘Sales Associate’ program.   Ludwig says “13 years later and I am grateful and humbled at being able to consistently achieve success and also to have been a valued member of an amazing total radio team at Entercom Portland. I value a collaborative approach with both my clients and local radio team and look forward to bringing the same positive and optimistic attitude along with a fresh perspective to the community in the Salisbury/ Ocean City, Maryland area.” Ludwig enjoys recreating in the outdoors, especially golf, swimming, and hiking.

COLLEEN CAREW JOINS ADAMS RADIO DELMARVA

 

Salisbury, MD: Adams Radio Group has named radio veteran Colleen Carew as the new Program Director and Midday personality of WGBG “Big Classic Rock” in Salisbury-Ocean City.   Carew comes to Adams from 100.7 “The Bay” in Baltimore where she has spent the past 13 years doing middays on Baltimore’s premier Classic Rock station.   Prior to The Bay, Carew spend several years at 98 Rock also in Baltimore. Carew started her radio on the Eastern Shore and was part of the team that launched WZBH “The Beach”.

Carew says “get ready to have some fun with me on the radio at my new favorite station, Big 98.5, Delmarva’s Classic Rock! I’m certainly not new to the area, but it’s been awhile – and I’ve missed you!   I worked at a few stations here on the Eastern Shore many moons ago – even helped get WZBH going when they first went on air   (yes, I started when I was 12, lol!)   I’ve been lucky enough to play the greatest music ever made, and interact with many of the artists responsible for it. I’ll continue to do the same here on Delmarva. I love that my career has come full circle because I love Delmarva – the people, the vibe, the businesses and, oh yeah – the beach!!”

Adams Radio acquires 4 stations in Tallahassee, Fl

Minneapolis, MN – July 10, 2017: Red Hills Broadcasting has agreed to sell its radio cluster in Tallahassee, Florida to Adams Radio of Tallahassee, LLC. Bill Fanning of MVP Capital, LLC was the broker in the transaction. The acquisition includes: WHTF – FM, Havana, Florida; WWOF – FM, Tallahassee, Florida; WQTL – FM, Tallahassee, Florida and WANK – FM, Lafayette, Florida.

Ron Stone, President and CEO of Adams said “We are thrilled for Adams Radio to be the next steward of these amazing stations that Hank Kestenbaum has spent over 20 years building and even more excited about the future of the stations under Hank’s continued management alongside Adams Radio. This cluster is another rare opportunity to join forces with a company that has been under the same ownership and management for two decades. These stations are a great compliment to our existing markets and will no doubt bring many great ideas into the Adams Radio Family.”

This is the fifth market for Adams Radio Group. Adams owns and operates clusters in Las Cruces, NM, Fort Wayne, IN, suburban Chicago (Northwest Indiana) and Salisbury-Ocean City, MD.

KOOL OLDIES 104.3 & 105.1

ADAMS RADIO “HATCHES” KOOL OLDIES IN MARYLAND

Playing the best of the 60’s and 70’s, KOOL Oldies 104.3 & 105.1 & 103.9HD2

Salisbury, MD, April 5, 2017– KOOL Oldies hatched on April 1st with a stellar promotion in partnership with the Salisbury Zoo.

Adams Radio Group teamed up with the Salisbury Zoological Park to run a month long promotion leading up to KOOL Oldies making its debut on April 1st. A large egg of unknown origin was placed in an outdoor enclosure where zoo visitors could view the egg and then encouraged to go to the Zoo’s website and make a guess as to what was in the egg. On April 1st, a curious crowd gathered to discover what was about to “hatch”.

The egg was opened to revel a stuffed penguin and the announcement of the new KOOL Oldies station. Kids were entertained with taking pictures with the new KOOL Oldies Penguin mascot and getting to pick a plastic egg which held prizes for them. Listeners are now able to visit KOOL Oldies website to help name the new KOOL Oldies penguin. The winner of the naming contest will win a 5,000 watt generator.

Just in time for the warmer weather, Delmarva now has KOOL Oldies 104.3 & 105.1
