FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Last week, the City announced the 2019 plans for investing $31 million in local funds for infrastructure. City officials say there has been public interest in what projects will begin first and sent out a list of current road work.
Alley Reconstruction – Mallott Contracting will begin reconstruction of two alleys later this week located between W. Wallace Street, W. Masterson Avenue, Webster Street and Calhoun Street.
Caribe Colony Neighborhood – Hipskind Concrete began the initial work on Friday, March 22 for the improvements that will include concrete spot repair and reconstruction of sections of concrete roadway, curb and sidewalks repair, and construction of ADA curb ramps. Work should wrap-up by September of 2019.
Deerfield Estates – Garcia Concrete is doing pipe work in the neighborhood near the intersection of Yearling and Buckskin. The neighborhood improvements include concrete spot repair and reconstruction of sections of concrete roadway, curb and sidewalk repair, and installation of new ADA curb ramps. Work completion is set for June of 2019.
Dupont Road – This week crews are working on sidewalks and curbs and pouring the center island concrete curbs. Lane restrictions with traffic routed to the two outside lanes will continue through mid-April. The project is expanding the road to 4-lanes with a turn lane, where needed, along with a sidewalk on the north side and a trail on the south side of the road. A below-grade pedestrian/bicycle crossing connects the Pufferbelly Trail under the road near Salomon Farm Park. Phend & Brown, Inc. is the contractor.
Edsall Avenue Bridge – Pilings are in place and this week crews are pouring the concrete base for the pilings. The bridge crosses the Norfolk Southern Railroad from Reynolds to McDonald Streets. The project includes street lighting. Completion is expected in August 2019. ICC Group Inc. is the contractor.
Greater McMillen Park Phase 1 – Mallott Contracting is continuing work on this comprehensive neighborhood improvement project. The neighborhood improvements include concrete spot repair and reconstruction of sections of concrete roadway, repair of curbs and sidewalks and installation of new ADA curb ramps. July of 2019 is when the project should wrap-up.
Stonehedge Boulevard Bridge – This week, contractor, Pioneer Associates, Inc. is de-watering under the bridge to begin removing the bridge. A box culvert will replace the bridge. The project completion will be near the end of June 2019.
North Clinton Street Sidewalk Extension – Bercot Inc. is potholing (a method used to confirm locations of utility lines) and excavating in preparation for new sidewalk on both sides of North Clinton Street between Colony Drive and Auburn Road. The project will wrap up in late June of 2019.
