Coroner identifies man found dead in alley southwest of downtown

UPDATE (March 26, 2019):
The Allen County Coroner has identified a man that was found dead near an alley of Huestis Avenue Sunday night.
The following was released Tuesday morning:

“The autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death of Ronald
L. Strother, male black, 35 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cause and Manner of Death are pending further testing and investigation.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen
County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”

ORIGINAL STORY (March 25, 2019):

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Local police are trying to figure out what happened before a man was found dead near an alley southwest of downtown Fort Wayne.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an alley in the 1400 block of Huestis Avenue reference an unknown problem. The caller advised dispatch they located an unresponsive subject lying near the alley. Officers arrived and located the male/adult victim. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Homicide Team and Crime Scene Units were summoned to assist in this death investigation.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death. There are no additional details at this time.
