FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police say they know who died in a Tuesday shooting, but they’re not saying who killed him or why. The Allen County Coroner yesterday identified 23-year-old Felton Walker as the victim of Tuesday’s shooting on Fort Wayne’s near-south side. Ruling his death the county’s fourth homicide of the year.
Tuesday night, around 10:30, FWPD officers responded to the 4400 block of Smith Street on reports of a shooting. Dispatch received a call indicating a subject had been shot. Additional calls reported several citizens heard gunshots being fired in the area. Walker was found by police unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Upon arriving at the hospital, Walker was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Officers say someone fired from outside his house. Investigators are not saying if Walker was targeted or if the bullet that killed him was a stray.
