Crash at Columbia and Tecumseh leaves man seriously injured

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One man is in serious condition after a crash on Columbia Avenue just before 2 p.m. Monday.
Officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of Columbia and Tecumseh St. in reference to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. The initial information officers received was that this accident was possibly a motor vehicle vs a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, they located two vehicles that had been involved in this accident. They were able to determine that one of the vehicles involved was, in fact, a parked vehicle along Columbia Ave. The vehicle parked along Columbia Ave. was a passenger car and the vehicle that struck the parked car was an SUV.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital in serious condition by paramedics.
Initial information regarding this accident is that the SUV was heading East on Columbia Ave. and as the vehicle approached the intersection of Tecumseh witnesses advised investigators that they observed the SUV begin to drift over and strike the rear of the parked car along Columbia.

Fatal Traffic Investigators along with the Fort Wayne Police Air Support Unit were called to the scene to further investigate this accident and speak with witnesses.

Columbia Ave was closed from Tecumseh to Crescent Avenue during the investigation. Traffic was routed onto Tecumseh until the roadway was re-opened after the investigation was completed
