LAGRANGE CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in LaGrange County say one man is facing charges after several violations.
On Sunday, March 10th, 2019 at approximately 8:30 PM, Deputies with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle being driven by a male subject later identified as Steven Ritchie of Stroh, Indiana.
The Sheriff’s Office says that officers attempted to stop the vehicle on County Road 1150 E. The vehicle then accelerated and turned west onto County Road 350 S, before turning north onto County Road 1145 E. It went through the front yard of a residence at 3470 S 1145 E. The vehicle came to a stop in the driveway of the residence.
Ritchie exited the vehicle and became agitated with Officers. During the investigation, Ritchie was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License.
He was transported to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office. While at the jail, jail staff was completing an inventory of Ritchie’s personal property. During the search Officer’s located multiple plastic baggies of suspected methamphetamine and a baggie of suspected marijuana. When questioned about the items located, Ritchie became agitated and a physical altercation ensued in which Officer’s used a Taser to help subdue Ritchie. Medics were requested to the jail in which Ritchie refused medical treatment. A Jail Officer was also treated and released from the hospital.
