Fight at a downtown gas station leads to stabbing

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say they have made an arrest after a man was stabbed at a downtown gas station.
Thursday, around 4:30 p.m., the Fort Wayne Police Department was notified of a fight on the parking lot of a gas station located in the 400 block of W. Jefferson Blvd. Information was then received that an adult male had been stabbed, and had been taken to a local hospital by a witness. Hospital staff initially determined the male to be in critical condition, but later upgraded him to serious condition.

At this time, the only available information indicates two adult males got into a fight, during which one produced a knife and stabbed the other. As stated, the victim was taken to the hospital, and the other male fled the scene.

Officers and detectives were quickly able to establish the whereabouts of the other male, who was later identified as Charles Swagart, 35. He is currently charged with Felony Battery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held in the Allen County Jail.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
