HAMMOND, Ind. (ADAMS) – A former northwestern Indiana doctor is heading to prison for a little over a year for prescribing thousands of pain pills to patients who didn’t need them.
A judge in Hammond yesterday sentenced Jay Joshi to three years in prison. Joshi used to be a doctor in Munster. Prosecutors say he signed six-thousand prescriptions for hydrocodone over an eight-month period in 2017.
