FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Friday, May 10th, 2019 at approximately 07:43 hours A.M. members of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division and Emergency Services Team served a search warrant at 533 Villa Park Court. Undercover Detectives made previous purchases of Methamphetamine from Derek Morris. Those purchases combined with surveillance on Morris gave the Narcotics division the necessary information to file charges on Morris and obtain a search warrant for 533 Villa park Court.
Upon serving the search warrant at Villa Park Court, Detectives found a total of 1 gram of Cocaine, .1 gram of Methamphetamine, .9 gram of Fentanyl, 7.6 grams of a synthetic drug, 3 pills(1.2 grams) of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride (Schedule 3 controlled substance), multiple glass smoking devices, miscellaneous ammunition in multiple calibers, a scale, a stolen handgun, an additional handgun with an obliterated serial number and drug ledger. Narcotics Detectives conducted surveillance at a separate location and observed Derek Morris leave in a vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and Morris was taken into custody.
Department of Child Services was also notified and conducted an independent investigation. A female juvenile was temporarily removed from the residence pending further investigation.
This is still an ongoing investigation with the Narcotics Division.
Morris was charged with:
Dealing Methamphetamine Level 3 Felony(3 counts)
Theft Level 6 Felony(1 count)
Possession of a handgun with and obliterated serial number Level 5 Felony(1 count)
Possession of Methamphetamine Level 6 Felony(1 count)
Possession of Cocaine or Narcotic drug Level 6 Felony(1 count)
