FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana State Police are looking into a complaint against a Fort Wayne police officer. Details are thin, but the Fort Wayne Police Department issued a statement yesterday that says they requested the state police take over the investigation.
Reports say the Fort Wayne officer is facing a battery complaint from a DUI arrest back in March.
FWPD officials released the following:
“At this time there is an investigation involving one of our officers underway. In an effort to have a transparent, unbiased and fair investigation the Fort Wayne Police Department did request the Indiana State Police conduct the investigation into the allegation.
Currently, this investigation has been turned over by the Indiana State Police to the Allen County Prosecutors Office for charging consideration.
Our internal investigation will commence after the Prosecutors Office makes its decision as to whether criminal charges are appropriate. We are not releasing the name of the officer at this time so as not to impede the judicial process. “
