Indiana bills propose updates to school safety

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana lawmakers want to make upgrades to school safety. Representative Greg Steuerwald says he proposed a bill to tackle delayed emergency response times.

HB 1225 would fund a warning system operated on a mobile app. It would alert any on and off-duty police officers near a school if there’s a threat. Representative Randy Frye is proposing legislation that partners local schools with Stop The Bleed kits. The national campaign encourages bystanders to help in a bleeding emergency before first responders can arrive.

Representative Frye says his bill aims to put more medical kits in schools.
