Laundry room fire damages northern Fort Wayne home, cat perishes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fire officials say that a house was heavily damaged by smoke and a family pet is dead following a fire Sunday afternoon.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to 10835 Longwood Drive on a reported house fire around 1:38 p.m.
The first engine to arrive on the scene found smoke coming from the roof area of the house.
Crews forced entry into the home to find a fire located in the laundry room. It took around 20 minutes before the fire was extinguished. The owners of the home were not home at the time of the fire. The family cat perished in the fire.

The official cause is under investigation.
