FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One man is dead after shots were fired into a Fort Wayne home for the second time in a week.
Last night, around 10:30, FWPD officers responded to the 4400 block of Smith Street on reports of a shooting. Dispatch received a call indicating a subject had been shot. Additional calls reported several citizens heard gunshots being fired in the area. Officers arrived and located a male/adult victim inside a residence. The victim was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Preliminary information indicates the victim was inside the residence and gunshots were fired from outside the residence.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity along with the cause and manner of death.
Last week, two people were hurt when shots were fired into their Gaywood Drive home.
