‘March’ to Fort Wayne gears up

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The ‘March’ to Fort Wayne, is here!

This weekend, Fort Wayne will host an NCAA DIII National Championship for the first time.

This two-day event will be the first of four NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball National Championships.

Christopher Newport University, Swarthmore College, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Wheaton College, IL, arrive in Fort Wayne on Wednesday, March 13 and will be preparing for the Final Four Games on Friday, March 15 and the Championship on March 16. In addition, twenty of the top DIII Men’s Basketball athletes will compete at the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ All-Star exhibition game on Saturday, March 16.

During their stay in Fort Wayne, the final four teams and all-star athletes will participate in community service activities at five East Allen County Schools on Thursday and Friday.

Organizers say the community and fans can expect fun in-game entertainment and special merchandise at the games. The local organizing committee expects over 2,000 attendees, 100 student-athletes, 4 Final Four head coaches, and an economic impact of $400,000.

Doors will open at 5:00 PM on Friday, March 15 and 3:30 PM on Saturday, March 16.
