INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – An audience of 18,274 fans attended Metallica’s WorldWired Tour Monday night in Indianapolis, establishing the largest single-event concert attendance in Bankers Life Fieldhouse history.
Opened in November 1999, Bankers Life Fieldhouse is Indiana’s premier entertainment and sports facility, welcoming more than 1.7 visitors and hosting more than 550 events annually. Promoters say the Metallica concert helps reflect the building’s versatility, hosting a record concert crowd less than 24 hours after conducting the five-day Big Ten Conference women’s basketball tournament which ended Sunday evening.
“Bankers Life Fieldhouse has long been known for its status as one of the world’s great basketball arenas,” said Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Fuson, “and we are also fortunate to host some of the entertainment world’s most diverse and iconic concerts and shows.”
