New Haven man sentenced to 50 years for wife’s murder

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (ADAMS) –  A New Haven man now knows his fate after admitting to shooting his wife while she slept.

Officers responded early on a September 2018 morning to a home on the 1900 block of Medford Drive and found the body of 24-year-old Courtney Marie Brown.

A short time later, Wiley Brown III, 26, turned himself in and was booked into the Allen County Jail on a charge of murder. According to police, he admitted to killing his wife.

The Allen County Coroner ruled Courtney Brown was killed by a gunshot to her head. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Last month, Brown took a plea agreement with prosecutors.  Wednesday, under that agreement, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison, followed by 5 years probation. He was also ordered to pay roughly $16,000 in restitution to Courtney Brown’s family for funeral expenses.
