‘Out-of-compliance’ sex offender arrested in Mercer Co

CELINA, Ohio (ADAMS) – Mercer County Sheriff’s Department says that an investigation in regards to an out-of-compliance sex offender living in Mercer County has been completed.

Information was received late on April 3, 2019, in regards to Daniel L. Young, 32 years of age of Mendon, not living where he was registered. Mr. Young was convicted in 2011 of Gross Sexual Imposition and was labeled a Tier I Sex Offender. A Tier I Sex Offender must register with the Sheriff’s Office annually for 15 years.

On April 4, an investigation was initiated and it was found that Mr. Young was not in compliance and was not living at his registered address of 117 Dutton Street in Mendon. It was found that Mr. Young had been out of compliance for approximately a month. Mr. Young was located and taken into custody at another residence in Union Township and transported to the Mercer County Jail. He is currently being held on a probation violation through Mercer County Common Pleas Court, which stemmed from a 2017 conviction for Failure to Provide Change of Address. The case has been sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal felony charges against Mr. Young.
