HUNTINGTON CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Department of Transportation says that both U.S. 24 and S.R. 105 in Huntington County are scheduled to be resurfaced on or after Monday, April 1, weather permitting. Work will take place in the following locations:
U.S. 24 from North Meridian Road to S.R. 9 (west junction)
S.R. 105 from just south of U.S. 24 to McKeever Street, through the Town of Andrews
Work on this project will begin with the upgrade of curb ramps in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Curb ramp upgrades will take place at several intersections on S.R. 105 between McKeever and Pennsylvania streets. One curb ramp on U.S. 24, at Guilford Street, will also be reconstructed. Construction of the new curb ramps may include widening a portion of the sidewalk; installing the ramps, and lowering the approach to align the ramps with the road. Pedestrian detours will be provided throughout the work.
Later this spring, following the curb ramp work, contractors will work on erosion control on U.S. 24 near the S.R. 9 split. Most of this work will take place off of the roadway, but some lane restrictions may be necessary.
This summer, INDOT contractors will begin the asphalt resurface, with the S.R. 105 location tentatively scheduled for resurfacing in early summer, followed by the resurfacing of U.S. 24 During the day, drivers are cautioned to watch lane restrictions and possible stopped traffic, as well as flaggers directing traffic through the construction zone.
INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through any active work zone.
