FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Get ready for more of Windows, Doors & More. The local, family-owned-and-operated home improvement company is planning a major expansion of its facility at 1121 W. Washington Center Rd. The construction will kick off with a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12.
This expansion will add 9,000 square feet of new space, which will connect the main building to an existing 5,000-square-foot warehouse. While most of the new space will be used for warehousing, it will also include additional room for offices and, eventually, more showroom space.
“We’re working so many projects that we don’t have enough room to store our incoming product. It’s a testament to our commitment to getting the job done on time and on budget, with the best products and installation teams available,” Windows, Doors & More president Kevin Hunter said. “The showroom is already one of the best in the country, and this expansion will keep us ahead of the curve to serve our customers even better going forward.”
Windows, Doors & More opened in 1983 as the factory store for Home Guard Industries, which manufactures windows and doors in Grabill. Ten years ago, as demand for local products increased, the company moved into its current facility on Washington Center Rd. The building includes the Windows, Doors & More “Neighborhood Showcase” showroom. The interactive space takes much of the guesswork out of home improvement projects, as customers can see what the finished product will look like in a home.
In the next 10 years, company leaders plan to hire about 50 new employees while investing more than $5 million into building upgrades and manufacturing equipment.
Once finished, the expanded Washington Center Rd. facility will stretch to a total of about 31,000 square feet. The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public and includes light refreshments.
