HUNTINGTON CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Department of Transportation says that traffic will be restricted to one lane on S.R. 5 over the Wabash River on or after Monday, March 11, weather permitting. Bridge rehabilitation will take place between Waterworks Road and C.R. W 100 N in Huntington County.
Motorists can expect to see heavy equipment placing a temporary barrier wall, as well as a temporary traffic signal to alternate vehicles over the 16-foot-wide, single-lane bridge.
Be prepared for stopped traffic while the contractor completes the bridge rehabilitation. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active construction zone.
Work on the S.R. 5 bridge over the Wabash River is expected to continue through late June, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Primco for $340,000.
